SnapIndex is more than a screenshot tool – it's a system for capturing what you see, preserving the text inside it and making everything searchable later.
Use the extension to take a screenshot, scrollshot, area selection or click sequence. You can also ingest downloaded PDFs.
SnapIndex extracts text locally using OCR and merges it with DOM text. Each capture becomes part of a searchable index.
Your captures are stored in a local library with thumbnails, filters and date ranges. PDFs and screenshots live together.
Use the built-in search bar to find any word or phrase inside your captures. Results are highlighted and clickable.
SnapIndex supports several capture types to suit different tasks.
Instantly capture the visible viewport.
Scrolls the page and stitches up to 50,000 px into one continuous image.
Click and drag to capture a custom region with live dimension feedback.
Record a sequence of clicks. SnapIndex captures each step with a screenshot and indexes the text from each step. Perfect for documenting workflows.
Capture long pages as a paginated document. Use the "Next page" button selector to move between pages automatically.
After capturing, SnapIndex opens an annotation editor with eight powerful tools.
SnapIndex runs OCR locally in an off-screen document powered by Tesseract.js. DOM text and image-region text are merged into a single searchable layer.
PDF exports include a hidden text layer so exported documents remain searchable.
Search by title, URL or any word inside your captures and PDFs.
Narrow by date, capture type (screenshot, scrollshot, click sequence, area, PDF) and status (indexed, pending, failed).
Each capture shows a preview, URL, capture date and badges indicating its type and indexing status.
New captures become searchable within seconds thanks to automatic OCR. SnapIndex indexes downloaded PDFs and screenshots identically – when you download a PDF, its text appears in your search results without extra steps.
Combine any number of captures into a single PDF. Drag to reorder pages, then export. All text remains searchable.
Upload captures or PDFs to your Drive with OAuth2 authentication. Captures are stored in a SnapIndex Captures folder and shareable links are generated.
Copy any capture to your clipboard with one click.
Instead of a single screenshot, Click Sequence records every click in a workflow.
Click the SnapIndex extension icon and choose Record Sequence.
Perform your workflow; SnapIndex automatically captures each step.
Stop recording to view your sequence in the library.
You can edit a sequence: reorder steps, remove unnecessary clicks, add annotations and descriptive text. Search works across the entire sequence – SnapIndex indexes text from every step, so you can find a sequence by searching for any word visible in any step.
SnapIndex counts saved artifacts, not clicks. Every saved item counts as one capture. Plans include a quota of captures and OCR/API calls.
| Plan | Captures / mo | API calls / mo | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 50 | 200 | €0 |
| Pro | 500 | 2,000 | €2.99/mo |
| Scale | 5,000 | 10,000 | €9.99/mo |
OCR indexing, PDF export and Drive uploads all consume API calls. Plans exist so SnapIndex can scale from casual use to heavy workflows.
SnapIndex is local-first: captures and OCR processing happen on your machine by default. Uploaded files remain private unless you explicitly share them.
The extension uses Google OAuth only for uploading to your Drive, and all permissions are clearly explained. You can export or delete your data at any time.
